She was always a bright spot. Ann Marie is great at what she does, and works harder at it than anyone I know. I’ve worked with her for several years in audio post, and I could tell the first time we worked together that she was experienced, knew what she wanted, and knew how to get it. She has a great ear for talent; she knows how to choose the right voice for the project, and how to direct them to clearly, and effectively deliver the intended message. Sometimes a script communicates differently when read aloud than it does on paper. I’ve seen Ann Marie solve this kind of issue by simply directing the talent to deliver a line differently, or by making copy edits on the fly. Neither of those solutions are ever as simple as they may sound, but she handles them effortlessly. She is also excellent at directing and making tasteful music choices for a given project. Whether it be guiding a composer through an original piece, or selecting a compelling piece of stock music, she makes sure that the music always serves the story. Audio post is just a small part of what Ann Marie does, but if the experience, creativity, intelligence and work ethic that I’ve seen her apply in audio post are any indication, I’m certain that she excels in every aspect of production.
